‘Parley with Angels’ was intended as a sampler for the ‘Weltschmerz’ album and features 3 songs, ‘Waverley Steps’, ‘Little Man What now?’ and ‘Man with a Stick’ recorded with Calum Malcolm in the studio in the early summer of 2018 and released in September that year. It coincided with the release of Fish’s entire solo catalogue on digital formats and streaming services earlier in the Summer.
The EP was more of a composite album with over 30 minutes of the material brand new and the other 20 minutes plus of older songs recorded at Islington Assembly Hall, London in December 2017 including the rarely performed ‘Emperor’s Song’ and ‘Voyeur’.
The 3 tracks from ‘Weltschmerz’ would all be totally remixed in 2020. The EP helped fund the recording of ‘Weltschmerz’ and show fans that there was a new album in the making.
It comes in a digipak format with CD and features examples of the original ‘ exploratory’ artwork of Mark Wilkinson before the ‘Weltschmerz’ main artwork.
